Save fuel as you drive! Free training on offer
18 July 2012
Fuel efficient driving is a smart way to cut carbon and costs: savings can amount to hundreds of pounds a year. The Energy Saving Trust offers driver training sessions where a qualified instructor takes you out on the road for a 50 minute session and gives you tailored eco-driving tips. As part of our Million Miles project, Transition Black Isle has booked fuel efficient driver training for Muir of Ord on Saturday 11th August. It will be delivered by an instructor from Drivesense (the consultants appointed by the Energy Saving Trust) and based at the car park by the Pavilion.
To fulfil insurance requirements all drivers must pre-book. Eight 50 minute sessions are available (first of the day at 9am, last of the day at 4pm): it normally costs £12 per session (already discounted from £40), but we are able to offer it free to TBI members. If a non-member wants to book a session then they can sign up as a TBI member on the day (paying £10/£5 for a one year subscription).
Transition Black Isle is about to start allocating the eight sessions to drivers in the Muir of Ord area. There are a few of conditions worth bearing in mind before booking:
- - No driver disqualified for a period exceeding six months in the last three years, or for a period exceeding three months during the past year, can undertake the training
- - The training is not available to any driver aged 20 or under
- - The training is not available for any driver that has held their licence for less than 12 months
- - If the individual has a photocard licence then both the photocard and the paper part need to be presented on the day (old style paper licenses need to be accompanied by photo ID, e.g. passport)
So book a session ASAP! Email millionmiles@transitionblackisle.org with your preferred time. We will organise the slots and confirm the time of your session with you nearer the day. A driver will be committing to a specific time for their session – anyone not able to attend will be able to reallocate their session to another driver if notice is given by 9th August.
Please forward on this message to any people in the Muir of Ord area who you think may be interested in a fuel efficient driving session. We may put on more sessions in other communities around the Black Isle - if you would be interested in attending one nearer to where you live then register your interest by emailing millionmiles@transitionblackisle.org.
