How to set up email notification of all postings to all or selected forums
Log in to the forum
Once logged in
Click on 'Control Panel' at top right
In Control Panel
Untick 'Opt out of emailed forum updates' on left below your email address
Click on 'Mass subscribe/unsubscribe to forums' on right below 'change password'
In forum list
Tick the boxes beside all forums, or as many as you want to be notified about.
How to keep a forum thread tidy
When posting to a thread, always reply to the original post to the thread, and not to the latest or any other reply, as this keeps the reply headers aligned down the page (as in Discussions / Trading without Money), rather than staggered across it (as in Discussions / Tourism - Speechless!). A reasonable exception to this would be where a previous reply has introduced a new angle on or aspect of the topic and it is this that you particularly want to reply to.
Different ways of viewing the forum
When you have selected a single forum to view from the overall forum list, there is a small control at the top right of the screen called 'Message format', with options 'Flat' or 'Threaded'. Threaded is more useful, as it shows headers for the original post and all replies in each thread, whereas 'Flat' shows only the original posts.
When you have selected a thread to view, you are offered the same options and an additional one, 'Nested'.
'Threaded' displays the full text of the first post, and below it the headers for replies;
'Flat' shows the full text of the first post and that of all replies below it in contiguous full width windows;
'Nested' shows the first post in a full width window, and replies below it in separate windows indented according to the indentation of the headers in full forum view.
Take your pick! I prefer the Threaded view in both cases.
