Scotland a Good Food Nation?

12 March 2019

  The Good Food Nation Bill
      consultation is here!

The consultation on a Good Food Nation Bill was published just before Christmas.
The Scottish Government proposals include that the Good Food Nation Bill will establish the legal framework to become a Good Food Nation. An important - and internationally unique - aspect of this new framework is the respect for the right to food as a human right. It also aims to set up accountability mechanisms to measure progress.

But what is a Good Food Nation?

The vision underpinning the Bill is that by 2025 Scotland will be “a Nation where people from every walk of life take pride and pleasure in, and benefit from, the food they produce, buy, cook, serve, and eat each day.”

To help you through the legal language jungle, Nourish Scotland have created a "Guide to responding" to the consultation. They are also organising a Roadshow at the beginning of March to discuss the consultation with people up and down the country. The consultation closes on 29 March 2019.
