GREEN FAIR A GREAT SUCCESS

14 June 2010

PORK from a local wild boar / Tamworth cross from Netherton Farm caused a stir at the Green Fair at Fortrose on Saturday. The half pig was cooked at the Anderson pub nearby and filled fresh rolls made by Strathpeffer Artisan Bread. We also had local eggs and vegan pate. Seasonal strawberry scones and home baking also proved very popular. This was part of our Highland Food Challenge. We showed that locally produced food can be really fresh and delicious. See the food page if you want to sign up to the next stage of our 'challenge'.

The Transition Black Isle information stall was also very busy, with people wanting to join 'Grow North' or our 'Smart meter project', wanting to find out more about what transition means or just have a general chat about the environment.

We are part of the rapidly expanding worldwide Transition Towns movement. The Black Isle is a peninsula of about 100 sq miles ENE of Inverness in Scotland, UK.
