The IPCC published their final report yesterday saying that we need to at least tripple the amount of renewable energy to limit climate change and the price tag for this would not be very much particularly if costs to the economy of things like air pollution is taken into account.
Some people think that Scotland already has more than its share of renewables but with 25% of Europe's renewable resources our weather does put us at an advantage and last year we produced 40% of our electricity from renewable sources compared with a pretty poor figure for the UK as a whole.

Lesley Riddoch's article sums this up very well.

One of the problems is the way renewables end up benefiting large landowners rather than local people. The answer to this is surely more community renewables and co-ops such as the case studies outlined here.

TBI is hoping to have one of these groups come to talk to us at some point.

We are part of the rapidly expanding worldwide Transition Towns movement. The Black Isle is a peninsula of about 100 sq miles ENE of Inverness in Scotland, UK.
