More Climate Action Hubs established

Highlands & Islands Climate Hub's June newsletter reports that three of its staff represented the hub at the very first Gathering of all the Climate Hubs in Scotland.

"The day offered a great opportunity to meet with other Hubs to discuss our work & share some wisdom of what we’ve learnt along the way, aswell as discuss collaborative opportunities as to how we can best utilise the network!

"It was also a rather special day for us, as back in 2021 when our Hub was established, we were one of only 2, but now there are 22 Hubs all across Scotland! At the Gathering there was representation from every Hub with over 80 people in attendance, marking a significant point for the Climate Action Hub Network. Here’s to the continuation of our support for our Members’ valuable work!"

From the Hub newsletter  12 December

We’re very excited today to reveal that we’re expanding the area we cover to include Lochaber & Skye!  We’ve been in discussion with Scottish Government who fund our operations and the community groups within these areas for a while now and are so pleased to be able to officially offer our services to communities in these areas.

From the Community-led climate action climate action section of a recent Scottish Government policy document

Community climate action hubs

We are building a network of regional community climate action hubs to provide a more strategic regional approach to climate change action.  This network of regional hubs will be spread across Scotland - two pathfinder hubs, one in the North Highlands led by Thurso Community Development Trust and one in the North East led by the NESCAN Hub (North East Scotland Climate Action Network), were launched in September 2021.
.   .   .   .
The hubs will provide support in their local areas, helping groups to take advantage of community funding opportunities, and reducing the administrative burden on projects.  The hubs will also facilitate better networking, ensuring a joined-up approach is being taken to tackling climate change at a regional level.
