While looking online for seed potatoes, cursing the delivery charges to here, bemoaning the limited choice available locally and the lack of anywhere (that I know of) within 140 miles to buy a good selection by the tuber rather than in 1kg or bigger bags, I wondered...

How about a potato day? Here on the Black Isle, to happen within about 6 weeks.

Is it possible you might wonder. So did I for the 24 hours since having the idea, but none of the potential difficulties seem a major barrier so I intend to go for it and make it happen the last weekend in February or first weekend in March 2011 - plenty of time for all you potato growers to chit them ready to plant in early April.

So... please don't rush out and buy all your seed potatoes just yet - wait at least a couple of weeks for our potato day to begin to shape up, and contribute to the coming discussions in the Food Group room to help make our potato day as successful and useful as possible.
