| It's possible to grow an array of types of chills in greenhouses and on windowsills.. and then use them to cook dishes such as the fantastic ones showcased during the Indian cookery demo.
How about a wee TBI competition over the summer to see who can grow the best chillis?

| Is it a bit late to start now? Assuming we've still got time. I would be happy to devote a small part of our windowsill to a chilli plant or two. Incidentally, a few years back we grew a chilli plant in a pot, and the chillis were still on the plant at Christmas - they looked great, just like Christmas tree decorations. |

| Start at about 25 C in mid February. Missed the boat this season unless you can get a suply of good plants - and even that is not easy now.
Presuming you had, a warm and south facing window is needed, you might get away with a greenhouse in the right place but would probably need a decent summer and / or a favourable aspect. Their ripening is a problem up here - I had good plants from down south in June 2009 and they struggled to crop and ripen properly despite being in flower / fruit when they arrived. |

| Chillies grew well over the years in our polytunnel in Highlands. Little red ones by the hundred. We saved them as dried and after nearly 5 years are still using them. Ok- we dont use chillies very often and I've never tried fresh chilli ( to eat) but maybe this year- one growing in my small greenhouse by hydroponic means. Will keep you posted |

| I planted some green ones this year, but they didn't survive, I suspect this was due to neglect though as went on holiday at a bad time.
I've put a note in my calendar to get on the case next February... One of these days we'll have a chilli cook-athon!
IN the meantime I'm going to post a good wee recipe from the south of Italy which works superbly well with the small dried red ones - see the recipe section.

| We've got a couple of pepper plants from Grow North, and one that Maggie donated, both doing quite well on the windowsill. The one from Maggie has flowers now, the other two are a bit behind. Not sure whether they'l produce hot or sweet peppers. |
