Gorse Blitz on Culbokie Green

11 February 2024, Starts: 14:00, Ends: 16:00

Sunday  11 February   2.00 - 4.00   Culbokie Green

Come and join a volunteer afternoon this Sunday (11th February) from 2-4pm on Culbokie Green to help pull out small gorse seedlings that are threatening our meadow. This is a big task that the Green Team has been working on over the last couple of years. We’ve looked at alternatives to hand pulling – but all the experts agree that, while hand-pulling is labour intensive, it’s the best approach. We’d really welcome reinforcements to help get on top of the problem. A group of people working together can make a massive impact – and it’s fun to chat with neighbours while you’re working.

We’ll stop for a sociable break during the session – and we’ll provide refreshments. The weather should be ok – well above freezing with not too much wind or rain. Bring warm and waterproof clothes, gardening gloves and a garden fork if you have one. If not, we’ll be able to provide tools. Please come and help if you can.
