Regenerating the Wood of Caledon ~ RSPB and Scottish Forestry share insights into re-establishing healthy habitats

The Forum is very grateful to RSPB Scotland for hosting a visit to Abernethy Forest jointly with Scottish Forestry.

This visit is on 27th Sept from 10.00 -15.30, meeting at RSPB Forest Lodge Abernethy.

We’ll learn about the work RSPB is undertaking to enable the regeneration of a healthy mosaic of woodland and open habitats from forest floor to the Cairngorm plateau; and hear from Scottish Forestry experts how their advisors and grant schemes can facilitate this important work.

We’ll be learning from RSPB experience, including in creating and running a vibrant tree nursery; the conservation benefits of introducing cattle grazing; and the use of  ‘no fence’ collars. We’ll also learn from Scottish Forestry about how their grants can support this work and other woodland regeneration and management approaches.

The visit is open to anyone interested in learning more about the techniques used and grant opportunities. Numbers are limited to 20 for transport logistics, and to enable good discussion, so early booking is recommended.
