Spectrum Centre Inverness
Extinction Rebellion Inverness has put together a proposal for a Highland Renewable Energy Company which was circulated to all the Highland Councillors in June. It was generally positively received and now XR are organising a Community Assembly about it trying to attract a broad cross section of people. Speakers so far are Craig Daziel from Common Weal, and Platform, who have been thinking along similar lines. Community Energy Scotland has been invited to take part but has not responded.
Common Weal calls for a National Energy Company that would own Scotland’s energy infrastructure and a Scottish Energy Development Agency to determine where future infrastructure should be built.
