Jim Anderson has contacted info at Transition Black Isle to tell us about their new recycling regime for food waste. His e-mail follows:

Hello, Folks --
Just a note to tell you that we're awaiting the arrival of two new composters from Sweden that accept a wider range of materials than traditional composters, e.g., bread, cooked meat, bones etc. This should make a big difference in the handling of our restaurant food waste. We've cancelled one of our wheelie bins with the Council in anticipation of having less rubbbish volume with the new composters. I'll update you as we get them up and running. By the way, the cost of the composters just about equals the cost of having that 360L bin picked up every week.
Cheers,
Jim Anderson

I am delighted that he wishes to tell us his achievement.

Maybe if this is successful we can publicise this and get others to follow suit.

Way ta go, Jim. Well done!

If the results are good we could lobby for something similar to be available at public recycling points?

Of course it would make even better sense to feed the waste to pigs and hens but that's illegal (for pigs certainly, maybe for hens).
