Highland Energy Community Partnership – Community Energy Officer 

Highland Energy Community Partnership

The Highland Energy Community Partnership is a new five year programme funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, and coordinated by Changeworks, which will be implemented in collaboration with six partner community groups across the Highlands, including Transition Black Isle (Charity Registration No. SC042309).  
 
The project will aim to improve domestic energy efficiency, reduce emissions across the households in the partnership and build a movement towards more sustainable home energy, consistent with a Net Zero future. 

The role:

Transition Black Isle wishes to recruit a full-time Community Energy Officer to lead the programme’s work in the Black Isle, particularly on the following topics: 

Promote environmentally friendly energy use - supporting people in energy saving and home retrofit awareness, helping them to adopt environmentally friendly energy use behaviours 
 
Support communities to retrofit their homes - signpost and  support households to retrofit their homes to improve energy efficiency and switch to low-carbon heating 
 
The partnership will also share learning across the Highland region and beyond to support the acceleration of rural retrofit across the UK.
 
The Community Energy Officer will support the partnership-wide communications strategy, sharing ideas, tips, challenges and stories online and through local media. 

The successful applicant will be a self-starter, passionate about the scope for energy reduction to mitigate climate change, and committed to working with communities to change behaviour and attitudes. We will provide training in home energy issues. 

Other information: 

The post will be for a four and a half year fixed term. 

Salary will be £32,000 per annum. We are open to applications on a job-share basis. 

The project officer will work from home. Access to a vehicle is essential.
