                            "Grow your own / Make your own"

  • a series of workshops for the inexperienced or experienced related to growing or making your own
  • a chance for guidance from experienced tutors, along with hands-on practice
  • opportunities to meet and exchange tips with others, share ideas
  • tea/coffee provided

Cost: By donation (Suggest £5-£10 per session)

Children under 16 free with accompanying adult

'Back to Basics of Organic Tattie planting'

Content of the workshop

  • Potatoes in the crop rotation
  • Difference of 1st earlies, 2nd earlies, maincrop etc
  • Chitting potatoes
  • Preparation of the soil - what to add organically.
  • How to plant the potatoes in ground/potato bags - practical element to session
  • Care of growing plants
  • Harvesting and storing

The workshop is aimed at those new to growing tatties, but if you have some experience come along and share it with the group.

Dress for weather conditions - boots or similar, gardening gloves if you use them. The venue is on a south facing slope so can be windy.
