I was wandering over Pooley Bridge in the summer. It was probably 200 years old and very solidly built. It now has a gaping hole in it. One of the Ulswater steamers has also been dumped in a field. Both Pooley Bridge and Glenridding villages which I know well have been completely cut off and flooded twice in a week. 'Unprecedented rainfall' is causing unprecedented damage. I fear both the damage and refugees are only a small foretaste of what's to come.
George Mobiot seems to be one of the few sane voices currently. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/dec/07/hide-evidence-...
