Hi, I am new to this forum and wonder what you would say if you were me....

A gentleman from Reading in Berkshire, standing on a side street in Tain at 5pm on a wet bank holiday Sunday, asked you "what is the main thing to see in Tain" and "Is it worth going any further north?

The Star Inn used to be worth seeking out, and served an excellent pint of Guiness. I think there's a bookshop, but probably not open on Sunday.

Definitely worth going further north - some would say it gets better the further you go.

You've probably realised what I meant when I said that people didn't use the forum very much. Perhaps we should start something on Scottish independence or nuclear power stations.

sadly the bookshop is no more, it is now a sweet shop and sells soft ice cream and old fashioned sweets from jars. They will also make a sweetie tree to order.... Definitely not open on a sunday though.

I agree that there are so many things wirth going further North for but just felt that sadly this gent would not be likely to agree..

I haven't been to Tain for a while now, but there's a good (private) art gallery (Browns) and there used to be an interesting glass blowers', not sure if that's still there. And I'm pretty sure Browns is closed on a Sunday, wet or not.
