The minutes of the last energy group meeting are available by clicking here .

We talked a bit about ideas for future energy group activities, and there were a couple of interesting ideas. One was to set up a library of low-energy lightbulbs, to be lent out so people can see which ones suit their particular purposes - I'm sure we aren't the only ones with dark corners of rooms because the new bulbs didn't live up to their promises (and, to be fair, we also have one that's much to bright for the fitting it's in). The other idea was to set up a programme of regular talks and events on an energy theme - maybe visits to the homes of people doing interesting things, or to the Balcas wood pellet factory, or we could use some of the contacts we made for the seminars at Greening Homes and Gardens Day to do some talks.

Does anyone have any views about either of these ideas? And would anyone like to get involved in organising them?

There was some more discussion of this at the last energy group meeting, and we are quite keen to develop a programme of regular talks/ visits or other events. Minutes of the meeting are available at http://www.transitionblackisle.org/userfiles/file%5CEnergy%20Group%... . Does anyone have any other topics they'd like to include in the programme?

The Energy Saving Trust seem quite keen to have open days for other houses. Any volunteers for a mini Greening Homes and Gardens with your house? We had about 40 people round in 3 hours. The energy saving trust had booked them all in and met them and I just took a group round every half hour. Began to feel like a stately home guide! There was a lot of interest and people about to do 'renewable things' so seemed well worth it.
