SCCAN - European Sustainable Communities Day

21 September 2019

From SCCAN April newsletter

"While core funding got cut, SCCAN has managed to secure a grant from Ecolise, the European Network of Sustainable Communities we are member of, to celebrate European Sustainable Communities Day in Scotland.

"What is the European Sustainable Communities Day?

"The Sustainable Communities Day, which this year falls on Saturday, the 21st September 2019, is a celebration of local communities across Europe taking action for a better, more sustainable world.

"We chose the theme of “Let’s celebrate” to celebrate in and with our villages, towns, cities and communities what our now over 230 SCCAN community members have achieved with their efforts.

"We therefore invite all our members to organise events such as open days, apple harvests or shared meals on or around the 21st September and we offer 10 grants of £200 to help with the costs of organising these events.

"If you organise regional events which bring together several community organisations from different localities, you may also be able to benefit from additional funding support from the Scottish Government funded Community Learning Exchange.  Once you have an event planned, register it on the Sustainable Communities Day website to promote it.

"So get your creative & organisational hats on as more info on the grant application process will follow soon. The application deadline for the grants is expected to be in June."
