Discussion Meeting

organisation:
Transition Black Isle

21 February 2019, Starts: 19:30, Ends: 21:30

Fortrose Cafe   7.30 - 9.30

This is the first of what we hope will be a series of regular get-togethers for members, sympathetic non-members, and, come to think of it, anyone who’s interested in having a chat about Transition-related issues.   We’ll aim to get started at 7.45 pm, but the café will be open from 7.30, so if you want to get a cuppa and (now that frugal January is behind us) a cake, get there sharp.

The theme of the evening will be “How do we get from here to there” – essentially looking at what Transition Groups are about, how that contributes to changes in how things are done, and asking whether that’s enough.  There will be a short introduction to the issues involved, but then it’s up to the audience to pitch in.  The aim is to have an informal chat in a supportive environment, with no real agenda, and no experts.  The only thing that’s fixed is that we need to be out of the café by 9.30, and before then we’d like to have some feedback on the format of the evening and the topics that we should aim to cover in future sessions.

Fortrose Cafe  7.30

We’re trying something new this month – a discussion meeting for TBI members and others, which we hope will be the first of many.

This first event will be at the
Fortrose Café on Thursday 21st February, from 7.30 pm.

The topic for discussion will be
“How Do We Get From Here to There?”.

Our ambition, in a nutshell,  is for a world where humans live elegantly within the limits of the planet. We think current TBI activities are a start, but e’re going to need much more profound change to achieve the ultimate goal.  So we’ll be asking “How does that happen?” – and “are there other things we should be doing?”

There will be a brief introduction, followed by an open discussion.  We’re looking forward to hearing from as many people as possible!

The café will be open from 7.30, and we’ll start the proceedings at 7.45.

– so that gives time for tea and a cake before we start.  And for anyone who wants to read around the subject a bit before the discussion, there’s an overview of the topic with quotations and links assembled by Peter Moffatt, one of TBI’s directors, here.
