If we had not battled to phase out CFCs when we did the climate might already be 3-5 degrees warmer. That's the good news. The bad news is that the chemicals we replaced them with are still 30+ times more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas so now we need to phase them out too.

They are used for refrigiration and aerosols. Worth checking if you are buying a new fridge or a spray. Asthma inhalers can now be replaced by dry powder ones which have a much smaller carbon footprint.
