TBI AGM and social 14 November 2017

TBI's annual general meeting will be held at Glachbeg Croft on Tuesday 14 November at 7.00, to be followed by  a pot-luck supper and social evening from 7.30.  All TBI members, families and friends are invited.  Directors and office-holders for the coming year will be elected.  If you would like to become more involved with TBI, please come along and meet us.  We are always glad to welcome volunteers to help with our various activities, and would like to know what your concerns are for the Black Isle and what skills and abilities you may be able to contribute.

TBI  AGM  2017 Notice of Meeting

This year’s AGM will take place on Tuesday 14th November at Glachbeg Croft Education Centre, starting at 7.00 pm.

The formal business of the AGM will be:

  • The Convenor’s report on the group’s activities
  • The Treasurer’s report on financial matters, including the accounts for the year ended 31st March 2017
  • Election of directors.

No doubt the Convenor’s report will refer to the new Our Local Larder website – and as a special incentive to come along to the AGM, we’ll have postcards featuring the fantastic photos on the website, available free to all members at the meeting.

Any member is free to stand for election as a director; all the existing directors have to stand down, but are eligible for re-election.  If anyone is interested in standing, do get in touch with me beforehand, and I can give an idea of what is involved – speaking for myself, I’ve found it a great way to meet and work with like-minded people in TBI and in lots of other local groups.

After the AGM, from about 7.30, we’ll have a pot-luck supper – bring something to share – and a chance to chat with members and the new directors!

Looking forward to seeing lots of you there.
Martin Sherring
Company Secretary (and Convenor).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TBI members who attended the AGM and social at Glachbeg on Tuesday were slightly outnumbered by those who sent formal apologies, and not surprisingly vastly outnumbered by those who did neither, but it was a successful evening nonetheless.

Outgoing Convenor Martin Sherring presented an illustrated review of the past year, emphasising the wide range of activities that TBI and its members engaged in, and highlighting the setting up of the new Local Larder website; and Treasurer Julie Gibson summarised TBI's healthy financial position.

As required by the constitution, all nine directors/trustees stood down, and two, Richard Robinson and David Reid, had decided not to stand for re-election.  The remaining seven did so, and two new candidates, Sheila Currie and Teen Ross, had agreed to stand.  The meeting voted unanimously to elect all those standing, the directors thus remaining nine in number, and being: Sheila Currie, Julie Gibson, Vanessa Halhead, Peter Moffatt, Julian Paren, Wendy Price, Teen Ross, Martin Sherring and Anne Thomas.  The directors will elect a new Convenor and other office-bearers at their next meeting in December.  Martin was thanked for his diligent work as Convenor for the past three years, and presented with a not-too-formal scroll of appreciation.

With the formal business completed, the company addressed themselves to the social part of the evening, and enjoyed an excellent 'pot-luck' supper to which all had contributed, and much companionable conversation.  Thanks are due to Bob Bull for making us feel very welcome at Glachbeg.
